Jalan Jalan Cari Makan

This week seems to be a fruitful one, for eating-kinda-outing reasons. Friends and cousins called up, to meet up for makan etc. So nice!

Met up with Sophia and Li-lian on Wednesday for dinner in SS2, Petaling Jaya.

We ate at Island Cafe. It's more like those Little Bali kinda place back in Klang.

I had tomyam set. Not surprised, right?

My tomyam set (Which is consist of fried rice, fried egg, tomyam soup, chicken chop, some veg and huge cup of drinks). It's only RM 9.90 for the entire thing. Great deal!

This is Sophia's fried rice with chicken chop. I would call it, rice in the boat. I was more fascinated at the wooden boat than the food

Friends, should give it a try. I guess there will be some guitar-playing to serenade the customers too. I saw a guy fixing his semi-acoustic guitar, plugging it to the amp. This cafe is the end of one of the blocks, same row as Segi College, SS2 branch.

---

Next, we adjourned for dessert at KTZ which was supposed to stand for "kei tak sek" (remember to eat, in Cantonese). It's quite a good place to chill and to catch up with friends while having cool-ice-blended "loh(s)".

The outside of the cafe. The cafe's name cannot be captured properly as it was too bright.

It is just the opposite block of Island Cafe and I seriously like their loh, especially their kiwi loh.

And their prices are quite standard too, compared to other dessert cafe.

The kiwi loh. My personal favourite

Mango loh

Double boiled honeydew tea

Their taste its really good. It's not too sweet nor tasteless kind. It's just nice and its the owner's own recipe. They even started franchises in KL. This is how good they are.

They have a great variety of dessert that ranges from the typical traditional style (like red bean soup) to western styles (ice blended). They also serve main dishes just like other cafe.

Readers, do give it a try if you're somewhere that area. By the way, just a caution bout the parking spaces, it's limited.

On Thurs, cousins came and picked me up from work and we adjourned for food hunting session at SS2 pasar malam! It has been ages since I last went to one. Same goes to my lengzhai cousin. We were both like foreigners there and easily amazed with stuff while his sister who brought us there did some photography and snapping randomly as we walked. We were seriously like some foreigners.

Mango sai mai loh (Mango sago drink)

This is a recommended drink. I personally like it, and it's only RM 2 per cup. There are other flavours like honeydew, yam etc. Cousin spoke to him in Hakka and he actually gave us discount for being "orang sendiri". LOL.

I came across this huge pau. As in, it's REALLY HUGE! It's called the "Yip Chi Mei big pau", naming after a famous porn star in Hong Kong, famous for her BIG boobs (You can google about her to find out more if you want). The asia version of Pamela Anderson?

The normal pau (left) by the side of Yip Chi Mei big pau (right). My whole family shared ONE pau and we were so full!

These people made the pau exactly to the size of her boobs (according to the pau vendor) and named after her. No doubt her name will be even more famous, but.... for her boobs? Something is so wrong here!

Moving on, how could we not get Uncle Bob's fried chicken right?

Uncle Bob's fried chicken

It's nice! Especially with the spicy powder. Despite my difficulty in eating (just tighten my braces), I still eat them. Nibbling and munching using the back molar tooth slowly, very slowly.

Flavoured fish balls.

These are recommended too. I always see this in Hong Kong TVB series where the illegal hawkers will run for their life when the police officers come around. They have several flavours; curry, tomyam, satay and black pepper. It's delicious. It's only RM 1 per stick

Typical yao zha kuey and other chinese-styled breakfasts

Lastly, I don't understand why is this stall so famous that they need a log book to jot down orders and you can collect your orders at least 30 minutes after you've placed your order. The queue is like, crazy!

Yao zha kuey

EVERYBODY wants it. And people doesn't buy one or two, they buy in 10s. Crazy! They start their business only at 8.15pm while other vendors have already started since early evening.

Cousin doing some of her photography session, AGAIN. While waiting for yao zha kuey

I did some too, while talking to my the other lengzhai cousin. One lady who stood next to me asked me these:

lady: (very politely, but curious) Hey. So, which country are you from?

me: (blur look) Err.. Malaysia?

lady: Oh? Really? (smile) Then it must be interesting here.

I told that to my cousin and he laughed. He answered "Subang Jaya". Seriously, we were like some tourist from elsewhere being so fascinated by the stuffs in pasar malam. Since we have never been there for a long time.

Lady: Are you a Christian?

me: Yeah

Lady: Oh? Which church are you from?

me: Harvest Christian Assembly, in Klang

Lady: Oh, I'm from ............... (I forgot the name) Church in Section 13.

me: I see.

Lady: Okay, gotta go. God bless ah!

This is SO random! And this isn't the first time where people asked if I'm a Christian. Am ALWAYS ASKED wherever I go. It's so dangerous!

What if.. I didn't behave myself?
What if.. I wasn't being a good testimony?
What if...

Talking bout "What if..?".. Tomorrow there will be an Inter-School Christian Fellowship Rally in Hin Hua auditorium around 7pm. Admission is free. Please come and be blessed.

Till then, signing OFF
