So sad la!

Current study: Perception (Psychology)

Declaration: Maybe from now on, I shall not explain stuffs even if people ask around why unless they specifically ask me and if they really really want to know.

"Why suddenly?" you may ask. Because...

chipMUNK | 2 days! says:

chipMUNK | 2 days! says:

But it's still so sad right to be known as someone who always give out (most of time unwanted) scientific explanations (or lame ones).

Hrm, in that case, I don't want to be MK la.

Extinction.

Just realize that I only have 3 more studying days before my exam. OMG.

And you know you know when you're studying bout something, and in my case bout 'classical and operant conditioning' in psychology, I realize that we encounter them all the time in our everyday life!

We do something that we don't really want to do but we still have to do it so that we wont get penalized and sometimes, we'll be rewarded.

Well at least I'll reward myself.

For example, I didn't want to log on to MSN at first because I was supposed to study. In the end, I told myself if I can read finish a reasonable amount of pages, then I can reply or send online messages.

So I have to finish studying 5 pages before I can reply Amelia or send out messages. That's my 'reward'. So if I can't finish, then I cannot talk la. Simple as that. The same goes for Jiawen.

Another example would be, if I want to eat Fruitips (yum!), I have to finish at least one page of my reading. That's reasonable right? (Btw, my fruitips gonna no more edi).

---

So as I was studying, I came across this passage about extinction. Not literally the 'pupus' extinction. Rather, the response elicited starts to fade if there's no continuous stimulus given.

"In other words, failure to reinforce a response extinguishes that response. The response occurs less often and eventually disappear. If lever pressing no longer brings food, a rat stops pressing; if repeated text messages to a friend are not answered, you eventually stop sending them."

Its so true right? At least for me, yes la. The same goes for email and MSN conversations.

Okay, back to my revision. Sleepless nights, aih.

Tetap Cinta Yesus

Enjoy this song:

Lyrics:

Ku mahu cinta Yesus selamanya
Ku mahu cinta Yesus selamanya

Meskipun badai silih berganti

Dalam hidupku,

Ku tetap cinta Yesus selamanya

Ya Abba Bapa

Ini aku anakMu

Layakkanlah seluruh hidupku

Ya Abba Bapa

Ini aku anakMu

Pakailah sesuai dengan rencanaMu

English translation:

I want to love Jesus forevermore
I want to love Jesus forevermore

Eventhough trials and tribulations

May occur in my life,

I WILL STILL love Jesus forevermore

Yes, Father,
Here I am, Your child
Make worthy all of my life

Yes, Father,
Here I am, Your child
Use me as You will in Your plan.

---

It has been quite a while since I last heard/sang this song. I first heard this song during our Mission Bible Camp back in 2004 in one of the Sarawak's village. That time, I actually teared while singing this (and meant it in my heart),

"Yes, Father,
Here I am, Your child
Make worthy all of my life (Use me as You will in Your plan)."

Amelia led this song in her CF on Friday. I just uttered a similar prayer and it was so timely when she told me bout it today (yesterday). Just to be reminded of His steadfast love for us and no matter what may come, I'll stand strong with His love because He said in His words, "I will not leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13 : 5-6).

Well, that's His promise. =)

Be blessed.

P/s: If anyone of you wants the chords for this song, do let me know =)

Complete.

When Jesus died on the cross for us 2000 years ago, His work is complete.

Complete means, nothing is left undone.

Be it your health (that include Amelia's dog!), your finances, relationships, studies etc etc.

You know before Jesus breathed his last, He said, "It is done!"

He didn't say, "It was done!" or "It will be done!" Its a present tense.

So, whatever you're facing now, just proclaim it now.

Tell the problem, "Hey look, all these are not my business anymore. My Jesus has redeemed all these 2000 years ago and it IS complete. So, it is His business now"

---

Who is Jesus? Randomly, this came to me.

  • Almighty
  • Beloved
  • Comforter
  • Divine
  • Emmanuel
  • Faithful
  • Grace
  • Healer
  • Interceder
  • Jehovah
  • Keeper
  • Lamb of God
  • Master
  • Never forsake
  • Omnipotent
  • Priest
  • Qualified
  • Rescuer
  • Saviour
  • Truth
  • Ultimate
  • Vine
  • Worthy
  • XL (big God)
  • Yahweh
  • Zeal

That's Him. Indeed, He IS complete! =)

New Look!

(duh, quite obvious)

How's this?

Still can't find dong dong dong chiang's. Guess this will do for sometime.

Friendship is a gift from God

It is a blessing.

Yesterday was quite a tough day for most of my friends and myself too. I didn't quite like it.

Plus, the Singapore O-levels result was out yesterday and it definitely shook the entire of Singapore a little. Disappointment was there la, no doubt.

---

There's this friend of mine who doesn't know what to do after getting her results. I believe her heart was troubled and lots of questions were playing in her mind.

That's when her best friend went over to her place to talk to her and to encourage her. It was 11 plus at night that time.

Her best friend sat with her, started listing down the good schools for her and gave her hope.

This friend of mine was encouraged and felt way better after that.

Her best friend then took the cab home around 2 something in the morning and start completing her piled up work.

They are best friends for 8 years already and she was there for her all the time. Her actions and genuine friendship (no masking) touches my heart and it is definitely a gift from God.

(J, I'm blessed by your gestures)

----

A good friend would not leave you or forsake you during your darkest time. They will go an extra mile just do something for you so that you will be lifted up again.

Talking bout genuine friendship and a good friend, I've met one, 5 years back.

She's one terrific friend.

And it was this friend that changed my walk with God and I grew stronger since then. Way stronger.

Thanks, Angela!

P/s: Thanks, Jean for taking me out for lunch just now. It was a blessing =)

omg. Psychology assignment is killing me! Ugh.

Time flies.

10 years later, today.

Mun Wah and I had a good laugh looking at old pictures of Mun Sheung and ourselves.

We've grown, all grown. And I'm glad we did.

As time progresses, nothing will remain. There will not be another 21st January 2008 again, not at anytime in the future (And oh btw, BLESSED 13th BIRTHDAY TO YOU LYDIA HENG!)

Photobucket

Continue to grow strong in the Lord!

Had a gathering with the old MGS-ians. Most of us are in our final year, some already stepped into their working life. Working? WHOA!

Juliana Quay will be leaving for Wellington, New Zealand this coming Friday

Ronnie will be leaving us for 2 months for Singapore this coming Sunday.

Li-lian will leaving us for Japan next week (tentatively) and then Singapore.

Ugh, why are all my loved ones leaving? And why is everyone leaving for Singapore? I also want!

Time flies.. time really do. I believe, in no time, I'll meet them again.

Yes, very soon.

Slow.

I just came to realization that.. I'm slow.

Yeah, really slow.

Like for example,

When I knocked on something, and after a good 3 seconds at least then I'll go, "Ouch!"

or most recent one, I went for both badminton and a jog on FRIDAY evening...

only today (Sunday), my right forearm muscle (my badminton arm) and both my thigh muscle (for the jog) start to sore.

Super-uber slow rightttttttt??

Gosh. 2 days for the muscle-ache to 'manifest'.

Okay, actually I can't feel those on my thigh already, but the one on my forearm.. I will only feel the twinge only when one presses/squeezes it la. ugh

I wonder what will happen if I'm this slow for my coming exam.. gosh! please dont let it happen!!

Dear Marc,

Saw this car parked next to mine when I was in school for psycho class today.

Photobucket

How come you didn't tell me bout our own website?

Anyway, I haven't master the art of psycho-ing people yet but I've got a strong feeling that myself will become psycho soon. How la? This is not the way.

New semester will be starting soon. I seriously have no idea how am gonna survive it without you. At least still got your best buddy, Mark for semester 1. Hopefully she doesn't ignore me (she has the intention to do so, she said). If not, gonna glue myself to Ling already (which I don't think its a good idea).

Please come back. Meet up soon. The Gang misses you!

Love,
Mun

Could it be a prophecy?

Haven't been chatting with people that I used to chat with.
Everyone seems busy, everyone seems so distanced.

Sigh.

---

This morning, I woke up with a dream.

I dreamt that Harvest Youth came out with a second service.
They're on Friday afternoons.

In that dream, I was praying with a few leaders on a Friday morning. Then, Mun Wah came up to me.

"Jie, get ready for youth service soon"

"Huh? Service? What service?"

"You don't know meh? Other than our usual Saturday youth services, now Friday afternoon also got services edi"

So many unfamiliar faces (which is very good). Actually I don't know anyone there.

Most are schooling kids. As in, secondary school kids?
A new worship team altogether. The drummer was a girl, an Indian girl, I think.

Sher Ri was the worship leader that day. The worship service was about to start. Then she asked me to help her with guitar.

Instead, I played the bass guitar instead of my usual semi-acoustic guitar. I don't know why. Dreams, maybe?

But it was a great time worshipping God.

Then Pastor Alan shared with us from his seat. He doesn't sit at his usual front seat, he sits somewhere in the middle with the rest of the crowd. He's like one of us. He shares the Word with his heart.

Everyone was very blessed. It was a big crowd. And everyone yearned more for Him.

Then I was awaken by a text message from Sher Ri.

Was it merely a dream? An unfulfilled desire? Or is it a prophecy?

Where the younger generations rise up and take their place.

Our usual Saturday evening's service got so filled up that there isn't any more spaces for the new ones. That will be a service for the young adults or college students like us.

The secondary school students are all so hungry for Him.

Because only Jesus, the living bread can satisfy us. Amen?

The sudden craving.

Badminton, anyone?

Before I go on, I want to express my biggest thanks to my wonderful host in JB,

THANK YOU, MAY JEAN!

---

Tuesday

Left Singapore for JB. Arrived JB around 3+. MayJean waited patiently at home (without lunch) for my call to pick me up.

She showed me around JB as she drove, introducing all the places. Her boyfriends' school, the buildings and whatnot. Then she stopped at her favourite stall to get pisang goreng (her cravings?) and keropok lekor (my request).

Apparently that's one of the best stalls where everyone will 'fight' to buy. Mayjean, being so small in that big crowd decided to scream from the back to get whatever she wants. She didn't mind the few keropok lekor left, she bought everything.

Then we adjourned for a place famous for its mee rebus (a malay food. Also known as mee jawa, I think.) Even yikwooi and auntie said its good. It was really good. Both of us shared one plate, yet we couldn't finish it.

(no pictures of mee rebus and keropok lekor etc. Forgot to take)

Went to get yikwooi's converse shoe at City Square after that before we adjourned for Danga Bay.

Had my favourite tomyam there.

Photobucket

Mayjean told us bout this good tomyam for like 1345678987 times in school before I could taste it myself that day. Imagine, for someone who is not a tomyam fan like Mayjean, actually love it?

Photobucket
Seafood tomyam.

Man, it was REALLY goooooood! *thumbs up*

Concentrated enough (not like those diluted kind of soup) yet authentic. The sourness and spiciness is still bearable (please order your drinks).

Tried their mango sticky rice also.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Mango sticky rice.

This is really good too. The glutinous rice at the bottom, fresh mango and served some evaporated milk on it. The combination of sweetness from the mango plus the evaporated milk that gave the rice some flavour makes it tastes really good.

They are incomparable to those tomyam and other Thai delicacies sold in the annual Thai Bazaar held in Klang Parade or anywhere else.

These are real good food. And you can find them every evening in Danga Bay, all year round. Apparently, the owner of these stalls is a Thai-Chinese with real Thai recipe. Looking at these pictures now already make me crave for it again.

I took very long to finish it. We spent almost 2 hours there and yet, I can't finish my food. Both of us shared these but Mayjean doesn't seem much of a good help.

Mayjean rushed me because I was taking a little too long on my food. She actually wanted me to try ALL the good food in the entire of JB during my short visit there (I gave her 4 hours only).

Finally, I decided to call home to ask for permission to extend my stay. Didn't want to rush so much, plus I would reach home really late that night. Mom approved. So, yay!

Next food destination: Tampoi

Had the ever famous PORK satay here.

Photobucket
Pork satay with ketupat

For someone who was never a fan of satay like me, plus I don't fancy pork (I like chicken, I don't mind beef but not pork) actually feel that this satay is nice.

Met up with Wan Chin (Mayjean's best buddy) after that and they brought me to this place called old school. It's located somewhere in the city centre. At first I really thought they're bringing me to their old high school or something.. you know, old school..

Photobucket

When I stepped in there, I already feel the cosiness of the environment. A good hang out place I should say.

Photobucket

The vintage feeling. Make me feel as if I'm on a time machine, back to the 60s, my parents' time.

Photobucket

Joy, from my observation, I personally feel that you will love this place (correct me if I'm wrong).

Photobucket
the menu.

The background music, the ambience -- very relaxing. It's a good place for a drink after a full stressful hectic day in school or work.

Photobucket
our drinks. (spot the hidden mickey!)

Our drinks were served in small little pails/buckets that we usually use for sand castles.

Very unique. And i don't see those common carbonated drinks or ice teas etc in the menu, they serve their very own yogurt drinks. Nice!

We left that place around 11.45pm. The girls wanted to bring me a 'ah guas' (pondans) street. You know, those back streets where the guys will go there and then those pondans will lure you and give you special "services".

"Why don't the guys find real female? Like those in red light districts," I asked

"Cause real girls are more expensive"

"ohhhh"

We passed the back street twice but failed to see any. Mayjean said maybe it was a tad bit too early (it was almost 12am that time) for them and that's why they haven't come out.

I told them prolly that night could be their 'off day' since it was Tuesday (most restaurant/shops off on Tuesdays right?). So we left that place with disappointment.

Mayjean finds it too early to go home yet, so we went for supper at Stulang.

A famous place for ikan bakar (grilled fish)!

Photobucket
2 ikan bakar(s)

Photobucket
seafood fried rice wrapped with banana leafs.

Photobucket
Herbal tea, product of Singapore. (Jia jia = berpura-pura = fake/pretend?). Nowonder.

Three of us finished all these. The whole thing only costs RM 19?

Good food, satisfied.

Reached home around 1.45am. I fell asleep in the car itself. Tired.

---

Wednesday

Shared bed with Mayjean. Slept until morning once my head touched the pillow. Didn't even wait for MayJean.

Had one of my best sleeps there. Felt so much at home (again!).

I've never felt this comfortable sleeping anywhere else other than my own bed. Never, be it in someone's house or camp, not even in my cousin's house!

This trip is special, I should say. I felt so much at home for both Joy's and Mayjean's place, as if I've already known them for a very long time.

And what a privilege! I was told that I'm her first uni friend that stays over at her place! What an honour mann..

Had Bah Kut Teh at Sentosa that afternoon. Bringing someone from Klang for bah kut teh? uh huh.

Photobucket

Everyone says the bah kut teh in JB is different. Mayjean told us before that the bak kut teh in JB is very clear, unlike those back in Klang.

So we ordered a claypot for two. Btw, the portion for two is really small here. Both of us can easily finish it up while back at home, my WHOLE family only order 2 person or sometimes 2 1/2 person. And yet, we couldn't finish it. There will be meat leftovers.

Photobucket

The soup was so clear that the it resembles my chinese tea.

Taste wise, I think I prefer those authentic bah kut teh from Klang. The soup was abit too diluted till its almost tasteless.

You know like those soup back in Klang, the more you drink, you will like it and as if you're addicted to it (thanks to Ajinomoto!)? And you want more of it (where you can ask them to add soup for you).

But this one, no. We didn't finish the soup and I don't see anyone in that restaurant screaming, "keh tng!"

Something different for the bak kut teh in JB is that, they don't have "junks" (that's how MayJean put it) in the soup. No dried beancurds, mushrooms, button mushrooms, golden mushroom, cabbage, pig's intestines and whatnot.

Only pork and pig's liver (Eeww).

But they serve bean curd and salted vegetable separately as their side dishes. First time I have kiam chai for bah kut teh. Pretty innovative.

Photobucket

And the worse part is, rice was not served in plates and no fork and spoon. They're served in porcelain bowls with chopsticks. To those who knows me, I'm sure you know I'm pretty talented in using chopsticks.

Photobucket
My bowl of rice with side dishes, and my pork and soup on the right. Chinese tea above, compare the colour.

Actually this looks more healthy right? Worth trying! =)

Next, Mayjean brought me to zoo! (Yay!)

With merely RM2, we get to visit the animals there.

And yeah, they are great posers! The animals would stand and pose at a special angle to allow you take the prettiest picture of them.

We were first greeted by this pelican. He's tall. Almost 4 ft tall?

Photobucket
pelican.

Like wherever I stood, he would WALK UP TO ME and stood with me. Like you know, you move to the left or to the right, he'll come to you. Especially if he sees you with a camera.

Next,

Photobucket
a sleeping baby gorilla?

Photobucket
monkey.

Photobucket
poser owl.

Photobucket
porcupine.

Photobucket
a very lazy crocodile.

Photobucket
two silly ostriches.

Photobucket

This ostrich (black) kept pecking on the few leftover feathers of the white ostrich. Mayjean kept ask the white ostrich to run away and don't let the black ostrich bully her anymore (the white one already botak). And....

Photobucket

even the white ostrich peck herself! Stupidity. Haha! This ostrich made Mayjean so geram. Mayjean was so cute with her reaction at that time.

Photobucket
deers.

Quite camouflaged with the nature.

Photobucket
Pretty flamingos.

I wonder if those legs are real. I always hear stories bout them being fake. So thin, how to support the entire weight.

Photobucket

These are sea otters right?!?! They're like the P, B and J Otter (If you watch Playhouse Disney).

Photobucket
Sea otters. Cute.

Photobucket
Cubs (baby lion).

Photobucket
Wallabies in Malaysia?

Photobucket
Tapir.

Photobucket
Camels!

How come their humps are not obvious?

Photobucket

The smiley camel posing for the camera. Like you know, when you bring your camera here or there, they will follow? He somehow reminds me of Jerry from Sanctuary Praise. Agree?

Photobucket
poser skunks.

He was on the branch at first. When I was about to snap his picture, he grabbed the fence and gave his handsomest pose. (He tried very hard to pan yao ying)

Photobucket
A poney with large penis (pronounced as "pi-nes" and not "pen-nis", well emphasized during Anatomy lecture)

Mayjean's favourite animal among all. Please don't misunderstand. We weren't hamsap okay. It was because there's this family beside us that time debating so loudly if its a male or female. And of course as a natural reaction, we will turn to see (not on purpose).

Photobucket
Mayjean + poney.

Photobucket
Scandal affair between gorilla... and gorilla.

Only two of them in the whole wide place but we don't understand why do they hug and kiss so high up on the tree, openly. And they got caught by the paparazzi Mun Khea. Muakakaka.

Photobucket
Lion.

Lion, being their neighbour (in another cage) also have 'no eyes to see' (directly translated)

---

After zoo, Mayjean brought me to a pretty park, also a jogging place (just beside the zoo) to see tortoises.

Photobucket
Mayjean can get married here.

No more tortoises. =(

So, we just hang out there.

Photobucket

A very good place for emo people, overlooking Singapore just across the Tebrau strait.

Photobucket
Mayjean, one of my very best buddy in Monash.

Very relaxing and away from the hustle-bustle kind of lifestyle. Just between me and nature.

Photobucket

Boarded the 5.30pm super VIP coach straight back to Klang from JB for only RM30.

It was a great trip, and thanks Mayjean for making it such a memorable trip.

Horrible.

The 2008 Semester 1 timetable allocation (in preference mode) opens today.

As usual, lecture slots are auto-allocated. Take a look at my timetable below:

Grey slots are (long) BREAKS for me.

Voila! Wednesday got lecture at 5pm, means NO CF MEETINGS for me again! Ugh!

Hrm! I whine!

Jesus.

On Friday night, Mun Wah came into my room with her mp3 player.

"Jie, can put Jesus in for me ah?"

"Why do you want to put Him in? Don't keep Him inside can?"

"=.= I mean the song la"

(Duh.)

----

Yesterday I was down with bad cold. Was in my jacket the whole time.

Like how Li Anne aptly put it, "Blocked nose = torture".

During meals, I do not know if I should eat or breathe.

Last night, while chatting with Joy, suddenly something prompted my heart.

"Proclaim your healing"

Isaiah 53:5 "By His stripes, we are healed"

So I decided to proclaim my healing. By faith, I know I'm healed because of His complete work on the cross.

True enough. Today, I woke up feeling all well and there isn't any sign of cold anymore! All glory to Dr Jesus!

Which one?

Singapore has something for indecisive people like us.

Photobucket

If you couldn't decide which carbonated drink you want, just order "anything", and anything will come.

If you still couldn't decide what to drink but you DON'T WANT carbonated drinks, then just say you want "whatever", okay? (Nowonder Amelia loves this line)

Who is faster, Cold or Hot?

The first to get the right answer will get a cookie from nilimpa. (Right, yk? Thanks!)

That's when perasan mode was switched on.

Have a great week ahead! Pictures from trip to JB up next!

P/s: Zoo was fun! Fed Amelia's relatives there
