Indon Food & Indian Rojak

Alright Wan Chin, this is for you. Haha!

If any of you happened to be around Sunway area, happened to feel hungry, suddenly feel like trying out some out-of-the-box-food..

You may wanna try here:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Restaurant Ria

Basically it's an Indonesian (Jawa) Food Restaurant that serves East Jawa food? Duhh.

It's located at Mentari (buildings directly opposite Sunway Pyramid). This is just one of their branches, known as the KL branch. The main headquarters is in Batam, there's another branch in Singapore and 12 other branches around Indonesia.

Try this..

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Basically, this is their main attraction. Penyek, much known as flattened actually kinda give you the idea that this whole-leg chicken was flattened as it is prepared. The side dishes that came accompanying the chicken are some vegetables, fried beancurd and tempe (fermented soybean). This dish costs RM 6

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Bakso is basically fried beef-balls. They are really good! I love these! =)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

These shrimps are real good too, from what I heard. I'm not to sure as I haven't try it myself. Jean Nee?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Basically, it's just fried hardboiled eggs accompanied by those same side dishes.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Gado-gado is the Indonesian version of rojak.

I teared. I know of people (weird friends) who wants to see the "other" side of me, crying. They are weird people, I tell you!

Well, that's a rare occasion but I would give credits to the sambal served in this restaurant. It's nice but it's REALLY SPICY!

Wait, I didn't cry. My lips were all red and a little swollen with just the little sambal May Jean put on my rice.

The only weird thing bout this restaurant is..

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

WHY?!

---

Next, I heard of this really good Indian rojak in SS15. It's somewhere opposite Subang Parade, in between the McD (SS15 branch) and Gazebo. I told May Jean that I wanna do a food review on this and to her reply,

"Review? Don't need la. Straight away give 10/10 marks for the rojak. Really very nice one!"

So, is it that good? I'm never and still not a fan of rojak but well, no harm trying right?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It was about 2 something on a Wednesday evening. Working hour? Look at the queue!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Rojak

It's the typical kind of Indian rojak. The gravy is good, I supposed? This plate of rojak with "added" items only costs RM 4.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

See how my friends enjoy them.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Who say only people paktoh under the trees? The folks in Subang all eat rojak and cendol under the tree one lehh. Canggih leh?

---

More to come, if I know of any places with good food. Do give them a try!

Don't know how to get there? Ring me! =)

Can bring me there and treat me also, if you want =)

Note for May Jean: Thanks for the lunch weyy! Paiseh.

Till then, signing OFF.

I've done and handed in the MAJOR Genomics Report just now, 11 something, on time.

Finally.

Phew~

26 pages altogether.

When I said "major", it's really major. It worths 17.5% of my entire unit.

I only need 50% to pass this subject and it's already 17.5%. So, if I did not hand in or if I did badly in this report, I'm gone.

---

I received a phone call from Yi Wei last midnight.

"Mun Khea ah, you finished your Genomics edi?"
"Not yet, still doing now"
"Once you've done, send it to me lar okay, I'll get it printed and passed it up for you so that you don't need to drive all the way up to Sunway"

That's so sweet of her, right?

That simple phone call put a smile in my heart.
May Jean asked the same, via msn later in the midnite.

I feel blessed.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

They never fail to amuse me.

My ex-lab demo (something like a tutor, but in a lab), Yink Heay messaged me over MSN and said she wants to come visit us on Thursday (last Thurs). She wants to try the good food in Klang especially bah kut teh.

Yink Heay

By request, we started off with Bah Kut Teh at 8 something after my lab on Thurs.

And then we CONTINUED with:

a) famous Cendol Klang (closed)
b) steam la-la, Nestum hei kor (prawn mantis), fried sotong (squids), noodles in Boston
c) famous Klang Jaya Fried Chicken
d) yu yu ice in Bukit Tinggi (closed)

Can you imagine how much we ate?

Eevon
hosted us all in her palace that night.

Angeline, the Johor chick (Yoong Kang puts it like this)

Angeline claimed that she put on 1.1 kg (weighed before and after the makan) that night itself.

Fuhh~

Note: No food pictures for the moment, everyone gobbled up everything so soon. I promise to make "Good Food in Klang" review one day.

Enjoy your day! =)

Genomics Report Is A PAIN!

The title says it all.

Ronnie was hilarious, for sure!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

That was funny (at least to me)! Next, he was trying to be nice. Awww~

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

... yes, he WAS trying to be nice but sadly, he didn't.

Angeline just said these:

Luciferase

Back in highschool, I was taught that a word that ends with -ase are usually enzymes, where they are used to catalyze (speed up or slow down) a reaction.

Usually the enzyme bears the name of the substrate they catalyze by adding an -ase at the back of it.

For example, maltase catalyzes maltose while sucrase catalyzes sucrose.

Today, I learnt a new enzyme. It's called luciferase. I wonder if it catalyzes Lucifer?

---

Biblically, Lucifer is the fallen angel (satan) cast out of heaven. Isaiah 14:12

Meanwhile, luciferase is actually the enzyme responsible to incorporate the luminescence gene to express the luminescence (glowing) properties. For example, fireflies and jelly fish.

Learned something?

Be blessed.

The Gang

Upon request from LeuCine, I'm here introducing The Gang that I heart, those that I hang out with in school

Introducing..

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

... The Tomboy Gang!

There was once, someone (one semester senior) wanted to described my group and she actually used this word, "The Tomboy Gang".

Since ALL EIGHT of us have short hair and don't (maybe only one or two, rarely) wear skirts to school? And we're all quite ganas (rough).

Yi Wei didn't want the name "tomboy" gang, so she changed it to "lenglui-gonna-be" gang. Not all agreed.

Thus, I shall leave the name as "The Gang".

---

There was once when we were walking in school compound and we saw this:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

So, I supposed the end result should be like this?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The Girlish Gang.

LOL, I don't know.

Enjoy your day!

I used to collect foreign coins as my hobby when I was younger, during the primary school days.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Exactly 10 years ago when I was still a kid, my popo (grandma) wanted to fly to the States to take care of my newborn cousin.

I went through my collection and looked for all the States' coins.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I only found two. 2 pieces of a quarter of dollar, so it's just 50 cents?

"Popo, this is for you. Take them, you may need it when you're there"

Well, mom said those amount that I gave her isn't enough to get anything. It's insignificant.

Iam was VERY naive back then. Mom was right. That amount could be of too little value to get something, but deep down I knew they meant a lot to popo. Just because...

... that was ALL her little granddaughter has.

---

In anything you do, just give your best (that includes studies, sports, music etc). You may think you aren't as good as the others. But the little you have, when you offer EVERYTHING that you have, it is more valuable than any other good things. The offering is complete, it is whole.

Lecturing as profession?

My lab demonstrator told me these, very randomly during one of the lab sessions.

"Mun Khea, have you thought of becoming a lecturer? I feel that you will make a good lecturer and all the students will like you"

Yeah... right! As if!

I saw this car in the Monash carpark when I was walking to my car.

I stopped. And I left the car owner this note:

Alright, I was just kidding.

I took that note away after that.

Slimmer Lookings?

This is Dolly Parton.

To guys, she has all the properties. She's famous for her small waist but large boobs.

Another pornstar like Yip Chi Mei?
She's a Grammy Award winner for her singing and acting profession.

(Google bout her if you want to know more)

---

Wanna know a secret to look real slim, with real small waist?

Remove your "floating" ribs. Yes, you heard me right.

Everyone has 12 pairs of ribs (symmetrically).

But the 11th and the 12th rib are floating ribs.

Apparently, these ribs are of no use to us, prolly just a spare support to us (which I doubt they can support much).

Thus, people remove them (by a surgery) to make themselves look slimmer, with better shape.

Dolly Parton is one of them.

This DOESN'T mean any of you should follow okay.

Just a good-to-know thing.

Enjoy!

chiao ke li li

"Next, I think I need to lose weight. There's this piece of crap jutting outta my stomach. (don't marah me after reading about this one la k?) I so hate it cause sometimes after eating, it feels like my stomach's gonna explode and the lines on my stomach are SOO red and obvious. So people, what does those lines show? F-A-T-S. But I LOOOVVEE chiao ke li li (chocolate). How to stop eating when I still have a bar of that in the fridge? Hmm.. Plus, after dinner, I'd straight away go to the fridge to see what's there for me to munch. It's always like that. It's a routine. Most of the time, it'd be chiao ke li li. Heh."
---

When her readers, us read this post initially, we laughed. We thought she wanted to pan (act) cute.

Today, I found out this word really exist, from my chinese-speaking friends.

I repent.

Anyway, it does not mean "chocolate" anyway. It's "chocolate chips"

She heard it from the Chipsmore advertisement anyway, so, can't blame.

A new vocab for the day? I'm accumulating them. Thank God for friends.

Till then, signing OFF.

Gimic to "look taller"

I know a secret.

Do you know that we're slightly taller early in the morning when compared to afternoon or late evening?

Slightly taller by a maximum of 2 cm only la.

But hey, that makes up almost an inch okay! Better than none.

---

The secret lies behind the intervertebral's disc (the dark grey part in the diagram below), the disc that's terkepit (stucked) in between your spinal vertebrae.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Water is the major component of the nucleus pulposus (the light blue part).

So, when we take in water in the morning, it bulges thus addding to our height before we get dehydrated in the evening losing those water.

So, when your school teacher or your medical doctor wants to measure your height, make sure its done in the morning.

Note for Su Ann and Amelia: Please don't drink so much water!

Cheers.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Darlings on both sides. True friendships, blessings from heaven.

Today's lunch was a blessing to me, just to be able to spend time with you both.

---

On the other note, I believe it doesn't only take up time, but effort and energy too.

What do we get in return, sacrifice after sacrifices trying to build a closer friendship?

I'm not bragging as if I'm a good friend. I'm not a good friend, I admit.

But what if A is the only who does all the approaching work, the one who starts a conversation all the time, the one who offer to do anything for B so that B is blessed, try to find time to meet up with B to hear B out etc?

B may be unaware of what A have been doing but I'm sure B can do more?
It could be not his/her norm to be the "approacher" but there's a first time for everything, right?
Ego, it could be.
Laziness, it could be.
Or more of, "I'm-not-bothered" kinda attitude..

... but hey, friendship is not a one way thing!

I thank God for friends. I really do.

So people, start appreciating your friends around you. You may not realize how much you mean to them and vice versa.

I, myself am not there yet. Still in the process of learning, come join me!

I care, I love all of you just because He first loved me =)

Bad Eyes

Got this from May Jean and Tammy just now.

Find it pretty interesting.

Try reading this:

Can't read? Only white blocks against black background?

Now, try to close your eyes to approximately 90% (leaving 10% open) and try reading it again.

What do you read?

Right... you have it then! =D

---

Even in our lives, most of the times when we see things we only see them on the surface.

We get frustrated when we don't see things working the way it should or getting the results as expected.

Well, prolly we need to shift our eyes to see from another angle?

Or, micro-lyze our eyes a little to see things?

And then we will all go, "Owhhhhhhh"

Be blessed.

If only they understood.

No one cares, no one.

Insignificant.

"Hey, come join us for mamak"
"Don't want la, smart people like you all there only. I sesat la"

"Hah? I alone again ah?"

"You got Yuan Ding what!"

"Happy or not, all your 3 darlings also going for camp?"
"Huh? Darlings? Who?"
"Aivy, Jo-Anne and Sharon Lee lorr"

"Eh, come join us for youth la"
"You have Amelia there what, makes no differences if I'm there or not"

These are the common replies I often receive, especially the latter one (sometimes other names).

Most feel that their presence...
... is insignificant
... of no importance
... is not welcomed

They are just feeling insecure about themselves.

No doubt, I always feel that way too.

---

12The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
14Now the body is not made up of one part but of many.
15
If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.
16
And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.
17
If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
18
But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.
19
If they were all one part, where would the body be?
20
As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
21
The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"

1 Corinthians 12: 12-21

Everyone is important, everyone is significant. Just like what is said in verse 21,

21The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"

just because we're of one body!

Every different part plays different roles. You may think that the brain is the most important in our body because it's the operating and organizing centre.

But, what if...
we have no legs?
No hands?
No heart?

So, we can't walk?
We can't do things?
There will not have blood circulated around our body.

We're likewise!

No one is more significant than the other. Everyone plays an important role.

There's no such thing as Mun Khea's goes mamak with the "smarter" group and the "not-so-smart" people should be inferior about. C'mon, we're all the same! We still get the same roti canai or teh tarik!! Not like the "smarter" ones get a bigger portion of the food or tastier ones?

Mun Khea has Yuan Ding? She's not everything to me lahh! I still need other friends, all the friends!

3 "darlings" that went for camp? Haha! They AREN'T even mine okay. I would think that the more the merrier! I love camps with many many friends there.

And.. Amelia is not my only friend in youth okay. She's not even talking to me these days. Sigh.

But you.. the one reading this sentence right now, IS SIGNIFICANT to me!

Before I close, would love to share the following short passage with you guys.

I don’t know if anyonx of you rxalizx that thxrx’s actually a missing alphabxt in this short passagx. Somxhow, this particular alphabxt fxxls that shx’s insignificant amongst thx rxst of thx 25 alphabxts and shx didn’t want to bx includxd in this short passagx xvxn as I’m typing now. Coverage

This is my digi line.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

All the lecture halls in Monash are located at the basement level. And that yellow man doesn't seem to follow me for lectures or whenever am in the elevators. He prolly prefers climbing the stairs. Weird.

And I'm always tempted to do this....

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

....whenever I couldn't send a text message out.

I would invert my mobile phone, and then shake it up and down ...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

... hoping that the line will obey Newton's gravitational law. The coverage will "drop" with the gravity.

It won't work in reality, I know. But it's good to have hope sometimes, right?

Hehe. Have a good day!

"Hidden" Camera

To those of you who travel on the Federal Highway, I'm sure most of you have heard of speed traps set along the highway?

A few of my friends actually counted; there are approximately 40+ cameras along the Federal Highway if you travel from Klang to Subang and then back to Klang again.

But do you know where are their exact positions?

Anyway, I can't be telling you at which kilometre they're at, but try to spot those hidden camera or speed traps when you're on the road okay.

Wait, not exactly "hidden" since you can spot them.. but yeah.. hidden!

This is one of them. Usually can be found near the bridges / under the flyover / whatever it is called.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Some on the signboard.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

There are even some that mimics the lamp post.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The difference here is that the one on the left has light bulbs and produces light when it's switched on at night...

...while the one on the right has cameras and catch you when you speed on the road.

Meanwhile, Kesas highway is not that developed yet. They only have "manual" speed traps where a policeman will sit on a stool under the bridge / under the flyover / whatever you call it, holding a camera at certain hours. You will know his existence there because all the cars will slow down.. and he's "huge" enough to let us know he's there (with legs dangling all, LOL).

Drive safely and be blessed!

Acknowledgment: Ee Von taught me how to spot those cameras on the way back from school. Thanks, Von!

Dunk' The Pastor!

The MMK carnival held in La Salle School field yesterday was a success. A huge crowd was there to support this fund-raising event purposed to aid the migrant ministry (for foreign workers) in Klang.

The Wild Wild West

This is one of the games stalls hosted by Harvest Christian Assembly. It's a shooting game idea-ed by Uncle David.

This is another games stall by us too. It's meant for small kids.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The boy in blue with a cap is Marcus. He's cute, right? He kept coming back for this game. That's why I know his name.

It's the lamest easiest game compared to the rest. Basically, all they need to do is to shoot the polystyrene cups with pingpong balls underneath using a water gun to the other end of the pool and the amount of cups they shot across will determine the amount of "stars" (gift coupons for gift redemption) they'll get.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
More gamers.

It's a never-ending "business" as all the kids love them. Can you tell that they're enjoying?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
The kid wasn't even looking at what she's "shooting". Her mom's the one playing

Even their mothers enjoy okay! Initially, their parents wanted to "aid" their kids in this game. But in the end, they're the one playing!

The grown ups and adults' game, it became.

Did you see that?!?! *shakes head*

Oh, did I say I met E-jinn there as well? I've proven myself that I recognised her and I know who she is.

Her little sister participated in my game as well. She looks soooo innocent there but guess what? She "cheated"!! Haha! I'm pretty sure it wasn't from her. Surely coughjinncough taught her all these *chronic cough*

In the previous practical, we learned bout every bones, muscles and nerves of the lower limb.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Yours truly, with the REAL human's lower limb bones.
(Note: They smell! Eeeew~)

Anyway, these bones did not fascinate me enough.

I was rather more fascinated with this...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
the visualizer!

Unlike the normal Over-Head Projector (OHP) which could only project out stuff through a TRANSPARENCY due to the light reflection thingy, this visualizer could project through a SOLID OBJECT.

For example,

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Isn't that watch and hand familiar?

Well, this is the image projected on the screen by the visualizer; with my hand as the object.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And yes, that's the bones of your foot; the left foot on the visualizer.

And I have to grab the foot, just in case it runs away.

Alright, am just kidding. Lame, I know!

Anyway, am still amazed! =)
