Surprises after surprises.

Surprise #1

I've completed my Food Microbiology assignment and handed it up. I can finally concentrate in revising, I mean studying for my exam since I doubt I had 10% of those knowledge I received during lectures. Well, few subjects' lecturers aren't helpful. Therefore, one who attends the lecture is just like one being absent for lecture. No difference. Self study.

So, how many more days to exam? I was counting. And guess what?!? Only ONE week left for all my subjects!! I'm just soooooooo dead. That was a great surprise.

Surprise #2

Last nite, I was having my dinner with Jean Nee and May Jean around 11pm and I received a phone call..

*ring ring*

Hello?
Hello, jie ah.. ku-jiong (In canto: uncle a.k.a dad's bro-in-law) died dy.
What??

Yea, my uncle just passed away yesterday, leaving my auntie all alone, a childless loving couple they are. They enjoyed each other's companion so much and are so inter-dependent on each other. I don't know how my auntie is going to take it. Her one and only has gone on. Furthermore, she couldn't drive and live so far away (UEP, Subang).

Just found out that uncle was suffering from gout and somehow, it affects his both kidneys and they failed him. He was admitted to hospital for low sodium concentration in his fluid. Medications were given and somehow, during his weakest immune system stage.. a stupid MR AEDES came and kissed him (without permission, so, molest?). No one knows, and with his weak immune system plus no particular symptoms of dengue was manifested; these lead to unawareness of the medical doctor. The suddened drop in platelet counts (without awareness) plus weak immune system rushed him to the ICU and he passed away that night itself.

May the peace of God be upon them.

Surprise #3

I was over at Jean Nee's house (along with May Jean) after that dinner to study.

"So when ah, wanna do the inverterbrate thing?" May Jean asked Jean Nee

Invertebrate? Huh? My blurness terselah at that time

Please don't tell me you don't know that we have another genetic assignment ah! Jean Nee asked.

Yea, she guessed it right. I DIDNT KNOW the existence of this assignments. It was NOT mentioned during lectures and no one talks bout this assignment.

Huh? Seriously? How come I wasn't told anything bout it one? Where to get the questions? *I had a look at the questions*

So, when due ah? I asked.
30th.
30th of June?
No, May.
What?? That means tomorrow??! (it was passed 12am that time, so "tmr") Gone laaa~

Great surprise for me.

Surprise #4

Mom has been complaining bout her nose block for quite some time now. Finally, dad managed to get his leave and they made an appointment with the SJMC Nasal Specialist this morning.

This is the x-ray..

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

and the growth...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
This is viewed posteriorly. Notice the huge mass that's blocking the cheek bone? Analogically, the size is almost as big as my palm. And this is a serious case. Therefore, urgent prayer request from YOU who is reading this.

Basically, mom has got this HUGE growth behind her skull, in the hollow part and its enlarging cell its blocking one of her nasal airway. This explains the nose-blockage.

She'll will be admitted to SJMC next Monday, and on Tuesday, she's going to undergo the biopsy operation. This is to check if the growth is malignant or benign [layman term = cancerous or not]. The specialist will further find out the method to remove the huge growth. According to the specialist, this growth is unsually huge and its rare. Hardly they could find patients like this and from his experience, he wasnt 100% confident to handle this case.

However, be it cancerous or not, the growth MUST be removed. The doctor said, if the mass continues to grow, there is a high chance to press over the opthal (eye) nerves and she could be blind. Next, it might crack the skull and affect the brain too. Death is possible. Currently, some of her cheek bones have already undergone erossion because of this.

Readers, PLEASE DO KEEP HER IN PRAYER.

Pray that God will remove this entire growth even without undergoing the surgery.

"Magnificent Dr Jesus, here I commit mom into Your healing hands. I know that as I pray now, she's ALREADY healed because of your stripes for us. You have redeemed her healing 2000 years ago and I'm claiming it right now, by faith I know she's healed. In Jesus' most mighty name I pray, amen."

Birthday GIFTs

...I've received my BEST birthday gift...

I'm turning 21-years-old in a week time. Oh, less than a week, in 6 days. I'm gonna be an adult who can legally vote.

Last week, I've already gotten my advanced birthday gift from mom. A new mobile phone. Really thankful for it. THANKS, MOM!

Yesterday, cousin called up and said that she's getting me the memory card for my phone. She wanted to get it as a surprise but then she afraid that I'll get it also. So, she had to tell me. And guess what, my good friends in uni did the same. Which I didn't know. But then again, I'M SUPER THANKFUL. THANKS, JIE. THANKS, FRIENDS! Seriously, thanks for the thoughts! What more can I ask for, right?

Today, I received the B E S T advanced birthday gift ever! I teared upon receiving it. I screamt. Yes, I screamt when I received it and told people around me. And the gift comes in the form of news...

ONE OF MY GOOD FRIENDS WHO IS CURRENTLY STUDYING IN AUSTRALIA HAS ACCEPTED JESUS CHRIST TO BE HER PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOUR.
(She's "A")

I have been praying for "A" for quite sometime now. Shared since then, err.. since form 3 to be precise. I knew it, I knew seeds were planted then and it will grow someday.

Another good friend ("B") studying in another part of Australia has also given her life to Christ during the easter break last month. And when "B" told me that, I was sooooooooo happy. Next, she told me that my another good friend ("C") in Manipal Medical School also has given her life to Christ recently during her studies there. Imagine how gospel is shared in India?

God is great and He has His own perfect timing and His perfect plan.
H A L L E L U J A H ! !

Both B and C have been my classmates since primary one. And we were in the same class till form 2. A joins us in form 1 and we were in the same gang doing crazy things together. Things like travelling all the way to KL's Arkib Negara to get information for history project. Did I mention History? Scratch that.

I remember going to B's house every year during CNY and we had great fun. But eversince I knew Jesus, I had my stands and refused to gamble along (those CNY small gambling) and I was too naive for dirty jokes.. so I was rather left out from the group. Oh, did I mention before I was the one who taught all of them how to play cho-tai-tee when we were in standard 6 lafter UPSR? I was the master of this game. C calls me "sifu". Sinful sinful me. That was back then. I was even called names by some of them.. names like "the holy one", "Jesus' beloved" etc etc when I refused to join them. Had been praying for them. Somehow, I knew that they too will know Him.

Now, I'm too happy that I can't contain it. Seriously. I teared when I heard the news. As said, this is the BEST birthday gift from them who are studying so far away and can't celebrate it here with me. I feel blessed.

So, three of them gave the best gifts.

A. Friends since kindergarten and then in MGS secondary in Australia
B. Friends since MGS primary in Australia
C. Friends since MGS primary in India

Before I end, would love to quote this from B.
"see u in heaven lah. can talk there hahahah"

See me in heaven? Indeed.
Will be feasting all the way there, bye bye reports, bye bye assignments, bye bye exams.
So, see you guys there!

b o s t o n

How interesting.

The Harvest College Group went out for dinner at Boston together today after the meeting at Jo's house.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We reached there too early (6.15pm), the restaurant HASN'T opened. We loitered around and waited..

And we found out something interesting.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We can actually SMS with public phone!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

So, we decided to text Kenneth (who sent Thomas to a nearby clinic) to test the SMS function. Each SMS costs RM 0.20.

and this is the text that Kenneth received..

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It got through!!
How cool was that?

The restaurant finally opened right after the discovery. Everyone rushed as tho' that restaurant offers free food. Well, of course we lost. We thought since we were there so early, there should be plenty of spaces. Boy, we were wrong!! We followed the crowd into the restaurant and it was PACKED the minute they opened. Gosh!

Hungry people rushing in

the winner -- get to eat

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
the loser -- have to wait

We finally get sitted at 7.15pm

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The food actually came only at 8.15pm. We ordered 6 dishes. Another one was fried rice, didn't manage to take pictures as my hungry friends attacked it too fast. Portion for 11 of us, everyone was quite satisfied and costs only RM 91 (plus drinks).

Reasonable price eh?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Of course, even Mun Wah says good!

Reached Boston -- 6.15pm
Get sitted -- 7.15pm
Food came -- 8.15pm
Done eating -- 9.15pm

It worth the waiting time?

Folks, give it a try if you're patient enough. It's next to the Lembaga Tabung Haji in Klang town.

btw, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHOW SHEE WUEN!!

This week is yet another looooooong week with crazy stuff.

So many assignments and scientific reports due.
Stayed up till morning almost every night.
Even to the extent of encamping in
Jean Nee's place to complete work along with May Jean.
Eating McD at 3am in the midst of our work. Crazy? I find it quite chun.
Thanks, Jean Nee!
Stayed up and do work til 6am.
Napped til 7am
Drove home and napped a short while before I drove to uni again.
So, health sciences degree anyone??

As for day times, spent most of my time completing stuff with May Jean as my companion.
Hogging on two computers (one computer and my own lappy) in the computer lab.
Had my breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner in uni. Can you imagine that?
Try completing as much work as I could, at the same time tried studying.

Mission to study: failed.
Reason? Too much assignments and reports. Have to complete them first.

Readers,

Presenting to you, this is May Jean..

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
She's looking parallely to the magazine, her specs' lens were put low. So, what's the use of the specs eh?

What? Looked old?? Haha!

This is her real look [excludes the "alarhh-give-me" look], with
Jean Nee's SHIRT on.. cough.

She's really a blessing to me. Thank God for friends like them (that includes you, Jean Nee!)

Hair trimmed

"Mun K, did you realise that you always BRAG about your hair?"
Jean Nee asked.

Hhmm.. I didn't mean to "brag", I was just excited for the slight hair growth. Yeah, slight.

Well, prolly too much of the excitement may seem to sound braggy. Oh, I guess I'm seriously not good at expressing.

Today, my sister (Mun Wah) wanted a haircut on the way home.
Mom made us all (three sisters) cut our hair. She said mine is too messy and since it didn't grow much in length, maybe a little bit of trimming will help. It's messy and frizzy. So, maybe its time for a little bit of hair-tidying after 1/2 year?

Had my hair trimmed. Look tidier, I supposed.

Jean Nee, Yik Wooi, May Jean and myself went for fried chicken just now. They came and picked me and when I entered the car, they mentioned something like.. "your.. hair..."

"Yea, had my hair trimmed" I continued the sentence abruptly

The look they gave, that look, I reckon I look weird with this hairstyle or prolly, it didnt support my "bragging" for the long hair. I dont know. Well, what is done, is done. Hhmm.

"How do I look?" Mun Sheung asked dad this evening.

Now, I wanna ask the same. So, readers, how do I look? LOL

...Mun K Misses Her Secondary School Life...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Oh MGS, our school most dear..

um.. I only could remember this line from the school anthem, forgot already. Although it was my once-a-while duty to lead this song in front during school assembly. Gosh.

Not long just now I was text messaging with Sharon Teoh, she came to realise that she needs to erase her mentality that being in university life is fun and more relaxing than secondary school considering the never-ending-work and stress that I'm having now. No doubt that we do not need to wear school uniforms anymore (hello school-goers! hi fangyi!!) but I would admit, I seriously miss my secondary school life where I was worry-free, ever-happy-cheerful-playful-mun k back in MGS.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Back then, there isn't a need for me to be worried for anything. Not that I'm good, I'm NOT, seriously not. Just that it's not as easy to fail like in uni. I've never failed before in secondary school and there isn't a worry to not be able to graduate from school. Who does anyway? No one do. The only concern was that, "Can I get straight As?" or that sort. Fangyi would agree with me for all these. I was not a top student kind back then but I could happily be actively involved in school curricular or co-curricular activities without worries of not being able to cope in school and stuff. I was lazy (and stil is). I used to revise my subjects only a week or prolly, few days before the major exams. Somehow, God still blesses me ALOT and I thank God that my results aren't ugly or colourful in report books, only one-colour-ink was used.

I do not deserve them all. But God is not those kind that bless those who only work for it. If it's so, its so like our "wages" from heaven if we work hard on earth? It's not true. Many times or should I say most of the times, we DONT deserve what we get from Daddy God but He still choose to give, He still choose to bless abundantly. This undeserved, unmerited and unearned favour is called G R A C E. So, with grace from Him, does it show that we can go on to not study at all or study last minutely while expecting Him to give us the good grades? Well, I would say that He will still bless us with good grades BUT after experiencing His grace over and over again, wont our hearts be changed?? Won't we feel the urge to study even harder to glorify His name? Wont we repent of our old ways and bearing fruits with His Spirits and walking on the right path with Him? I do. Therefore, I do play my part as a student now, not only a week before exam but at least a month before my major exam whenever I could. If I continue to studying only a week before exams, definitely I will not be able to cover even 10% of the subjects and thus, the next solution will be repeating all my subjects??

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I received several awards for being an "excellent student" after getting my SPM results, be it from school or other institutions like Maybank Sdn Bhd (dad as employee). No, don't get me wrong. I'm neither bragging my results (because they are nothing compared to them all now) nor showing that I'm an "excellent" student. I'm not. Please take note of the inverted commas. My point is that those As are NOTHING compared to the standard now. As time passes, the same number of As loses its value. For example,

Getting 8As in...

Year

Response

1999

"You're such a genius! I guess you can get your PhD next year"

2003

"Congrats on your excellent results. I'm amazed. Keep up!"

2006

"Hah?? 8As only ahh?? I heard most of the average students also at least 10As la"

Do you see the different responses as time passes? Less than a decade back, if you manage to get 2As for SPM, your dad will throw a party for you and everyone sees you as a scholar already. But guess if I get only 2As now, I could foresee Mr Cane waiting for me at home.

Any SPM-ers this year, if you're reading this, I don't mean to pressurize you guys. You guys are doing fine, keep up!!

I also miss playing table tennis back then in school. Laughing all the way with those people while training, just loitering around with Hie Phin. I seriously miss them. As well as Pn Chia who pampered me so much back in school.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Haha! As I look through the photos, I'm reminded of this "Pakaian Tradiosional" thingy exclusively for the moral girls. Few of us were asked to help out in the fashion show and I was asked to escort the "Malay costumed model" as a "male" model on the runway. Have to as we were from an all-girls' school la! It was funny and its was not easy as most of us were shy. Having to learn how to "catwalk" while showing our professional-cool-look. Have a video of myself on the runway here but ain't gonna show it up (Loosin, blek!). I borrowed a real nice BLUE punjabi suit from my friend and the smart alec me, brought the punjabi suit but FORGOT to bring my own belt for it!! It was too loose that it dropped the instance I wear it. So, I ended up walking around my school the entire day with my baju melayu while posing for camera shots with various people.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

My class' moral girls. Spot me!

I miss walking out of the class with my green tie as my "pass"
I miss staying back for netball training, house training, basketball training, tabletennis training
I miss skipping classes to prepare for quizzes that I represent school in
I miss having the "authority" to move about and doing things as a prefect or club presidents
I miss having lunches in KD (front mamak shop)
I miss running away from my class and stay in my friends' class
I miss sitting near the toilet and meeting my friends there
I miss being pampered by the seniors
I miss playing around and joking with the juniors
I miss wearing my tie and my prefects' blazer although I used to not wearing it whenever I could last time (hot!)
I miss following Samantha around accompanying her during her duties whenever I stay back
I miss all the laughs and fun I have being with friends

All in all, I MISS SECONDARY SCHOOL LIFE!

Note: To those who are still in secondary school, ENJOY them! These years in school are marvellous, I tell you! =)

Finally handed in my 4-week-biochem report.
I was almost killed.

...What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger...

I survived, yes I did!
And became stronger, I believe.

Have been doing that report for so many days and I stayed up till 6am this morning. Slept for around 2 hours, woke up and rushed for class. Have not slept since then and it's 2.40am now the following day -- I'm still fresh!

...So Much To Do Yet So Little Time...

Gosh! It's true. Let me list down what I supposed to hand in this week:
  • Bioactive Chemistry Assignment
  • Bioactive Chemistry Lab Report
  • Biochemistry Lab Report
  • Biochemistry Assignment
  • Food Microbiology Assignment
  • Food Microbiology Food Analysis Project Report
  • Food Microbiology Sauerkraut Lab Report
  • Genetics of Development Drosophila Report

People, now tell me can die or not? Haven't even include my revision time. Finals is in 3 weeks!

L O S T

It's week 10 of my semester in my uni now.
Bear in mind that there are only 13 weeks in one semester.
Meaning, my semester is coming to an end.. BUT....
And I realised one thing that for sure to happen every Tuesday.

************************
I'll be l o s t.

It's okay... if it's the start of a semester
It's okay... if I'm blur and forgetful once a while
But its NOT OKAY when this same mistake repeats EVERY WEEK

************************
Always ended up in the wrong lecture halls.
Morning classes, I'll walk my way up to the 5th floor (Lt 7) happily.. and found out that's not my class.
Engineering class. Paiseh. Good thing didn't open the door.
Usually I'll text message May Jean, and she'll reply me saying that its in Lt 3 (1st floor)
Afternoon class, I'm always the earliest.
Happily sitted down in the lecture hall till all the students and lecturer come in, and I'll be like, oops.
Wrong class again. Yes, AGAIN!
Quietly, I'll take my things and walk out of the lecture hall finding my way to the correct class.

Reasons:
Other friends either don't come for lectures or prolly different subject from me.
This explains the loneliness as well as sesat-ness.

In comp lab now.
Okay, May Jean bising already.
"Say wanna do work, why play with blog"
That's what she says.
So, off to my work I'll go.

Random Post #2 -- Grandma's Cuteness

Scenario 1:
When you're very very very hungry, whenever you see pics of nice food or any sort of food, will your taste bud get stimulated and you'll find the usual so-so-kinda-food became more appealing to you??

Scenario 2:
When you're very very very full and could not stuff in anymore food into your stomach, even if I offer you seafood, or any sort of food of your normal interest, will you feel like eating them? No right? You'll feel so bloated and nothing tastes nice to you right?

I just got back from the advanced Mother's Day dinner with my maternal side grandparents, uncles and aunties. We had seafood, upon grandma's request. Haha!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
anyone at scenario 1 now? =P

Well yesterday, Mun Wah and I was over at grandma's place for a while before picking Mun Sheung up from school. She told us the funniest thing ever. You guys know that scenario 1 and scenario 2 (as above) works with everyone right? Grandma's cuter!

Everytime she happens to eat too full, feeling so bloated (like scenario 2) and having no appetite for any sort of food BEFORE she goes to the pasar malam near her place, SO HAPPEN and all the time! And whenever she's there, when she gaze at the vegetables, fishes and all sorts of marketing food, she felt that they dont taste good (coz she's too full and have no appetite), and hence, she ended up NOT GETTING ANY MARKETING DONE. LOL.

She's another cute friend, isn't she? Another person I adore =)

PENANG trip =)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Penang trip was fun! It was my first time there and I was excited.

"First time there? Shame on you!" was what Sue May said in her email and I nodded in agreement.

I always hear stories bout how good the laksa, assam laksa, prawn mee etc tasted there. Are they that good?? I would be expecting day and night eating those kind of food throughout my journey there and guess what? I HAVE NOT tasted any of these yet! Weird huh, I know.

And we were there to eat
  • nasi kandar (which was expensive, average RM 8 each, someone paid hers for RM 15)
  • dim sum (which was nice and cheap, some plates only cost 90 cents each?)
  • Penang Road Famous Teochew Cendol (Cendol Klang better!)
  • seafood ON THE BEACH (cool!)
  • char kuey teow at the hawker stalls (ours costs RM 5.80 each plate, with added prawn mantis, sotongs etc)
  • durians (not for me)
  • special edition of Roti Canai with whole-leg chicken in the gravy
Stayed at Krystal Suite in Bayan Lepas, spent alot of time travelling from one end to the other in Penang Island. Also visited the Queensbay Mall (the longest mall in Penang with coming up biggest skating rink in Malaysia!). Jusco is one of the tenants of this mall and they have like 5-stories of shops? And the DVDs sold in Batu Feringgi, Penang costs only RM 4 each (here, I heard each around RM 7-8?) !!!

Took heaps of pics, let them do the talking yea?
